About

Shane and his daughter, Bella (2011)

A bit about the name and reason behind this race.

For those of you who knew Shane, few words are needed because you know what a down to earth yet high-flying kind of guy he was. He was relentlessly compassionate, endlessly encouraging and an avid adventure seeker. For the name of the race, we thought an eagle was a good representation of our brother - a regal, steely and beautiful animal that soars to great heights yet does so quietly and effortlessly. That was our Shaner. And for those that didn't know him - you've picked the right race to run in and cause to support. All proceeds of the race will be donated to the new Special Olympics Genesse Region. Shane volunteered at many of the events held by this wonderful organization and even helped out in the local office from time to time. This is a cause that was near and dear to his heart and we are proud to keep his legacy of compassion and love of sport alive with this race. Below you will find a detailed course map of the 5K race.
